I am in my 40s, Never-Ever have I been an athlete and would go as far as frequently instructing my Mother to sign excuse letters to my gym teachers as to why I was forbidden to participate in any activity that would involve me perspiring...i.e., I have never been a devoted cult member of the Fitness Realm nor had I the structure or self-discipline to consistently perform left to my own devices. Not that I cared terribly much even when I had an Overlord as a personal trainer directly in front of me.

Thankfully, Carla & the young yet extremely knowledgeable & skilled Sadie ARE NOT Pressure-Cooking, onerous Pilates instructors.
They are effortlessly warmly inviting, serene, capable, gentle-speaking guiders of untapped health, strength and overall well-being.
... not only architects of the body's potential feats but demolishers of ones own mental defeat.
Many body maneuvers may appear challenging, especially from the outside looking in. The Trainers of Saint Pete Pilates earn your trust by physically supporting your frame at struggling moments. Teaching by cautiously correcting and aligning your posture {within your individualized range} through varying techniques.
They customize & cultivate each client’s experience and continually modify movements throughout sessions so that achievement is visible and notable from within.

I am a shopper not a buyer and after weeks of scouring the internet the FAIREST, most competitively priced studio then [20 months ago] and I can confidently state still now Saint Pete Pilates. Centrally and conveniently located to Pasadena, North & South St Petersburg and Downtown in a safe, well-traveled area.

Saint Pete Pilates have transformed my ankle's range, overall reduced the fat within my legs & upper thighs, providing me with more muscle strength. I can raise to the balls of my feet and keep posture for an extended period affording me the near Cirque du Soleil superpower of meandering the grocery market's aisles in my 4 to 5 inch high heels at least twice a week.

~It's late in the day. Sun is on the horizon. Had better grasp its fleeting energy to transform...if in your life the Moon has already risen causing the tides to ebb & flow, ride their 🌊waves to uplift you to anew.

Sadie and Carla are amazing instructors, and truly make you feel comfortable and at ease during workouts. I personally get very subconscious during workouts, and I’ve never felt judged or discriminated against by either of them. They are always welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable instructors. I personally drive almost 30 min away from where I live just to go to their studio, and I have a different Pilates studio across the street from me! I’ve now been a Pilates person for nearly 3 years, and it’s definitely because of them!

I HIGHLY recommend this studio. Carla is beyond knowledgeable about not only general Pilates at all levels, but very cognizant of pre-existing injuries as well. Her years of study, teaching and participating in the classical method of Pilates shows through when you are a student of hers. I have previous knee surgeries along with a wide pelvis and she repeatedly gave me the gentle corrections to make the necessary adjustments for both of those to keep me from injury and to ensure I had a productive and challenging workout. The studio is absolutely beautiful, with a lot of light and openness, clean, and well managed. Sadie & the other instructors are friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful as well. I thought so highly of Carla's teaching skills that I decided to go through instructor training with her as well. It was a challenging training but she conducted it with the utmost professionalism. Whether you are interested in the vast benefits of Pilates as a student or becoming an instructor, I would recommend you doing that at St Pete Pilates.

Highly recommend! I had never done Pilates before my first class, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Carla is patient, thorough, and I soon felt at ease. I've been going to Pilates for almost a year now, and I love it. The studio is very clean, too! If you are looking for a classical Pilates studio, this is the spot.

Carla is one of the best pilates instructors that I have ever worked with. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind but tough, and always pushing me to work harder and do things that I didn't think were possible. I would recommend her to anyone from a beginner to a very advanced practitioner!

I've been going to this studio for about 2 years, started with Bernadette as my instructor and currently with Sadie (also Carla, depending on my schedule). During my time here they have shown patience in my training, flexibility with my schedule, and (for me) most importantly explained the reason for the movements so I can better understand the positive benefits to my health. I highly recommend this studio.
My only complaint is with myself: why didn't I start Pilates sooner 😂!

Carla is an amazing instructor! She takes time to learn your goals, concerns and problem areas. She encouraged me to try new things and gave me the confidence I needed to do them. She is incredibly knowledgeable on a variety of pilates-based moves. When I was having knee issues and a particular move might be inflammatory, she was great to offer alternatives that worked to achieve my goal. Highly recommend!

My experience with Carla at St. Pete Pilates was extremely disappointing on multiple levels. Not only is she not a good teacher—I never felt like I had a solid workout—but I kept going simply because it was the only classical Pilates studio near my home. However, Carla’s poor teaching was just the beginning of the issues I faced.

I also went through the Pilates Instructor Certification, and was actually offered a teaching position at the studio I found after becoming frustrated with my experience at this studio. Pilates is also my therapy, and I desperately wanted to come to the studio more than once a week. However, Carla would only offer me one session per week, refused to make any other times available, and refused to allow me to come into the studio on my own. I even offered to come in when her daughter was there since she was uncomfortable with me being there alone.

This was made even more frustrating when I spoke with other students who said that they were in fact offered the additional time slots I had requested over and over again.

For reasons unbeknownst to me (though I can guess it has to do with my neurodivergence), Carla even told me that her daughter was not comfortable teaching me.

Carla spent the majority of our sessions talking about her own personal and family issues, which meant that I never felt that I received the attention to detail required of a Pilates instructor, and therefore was unable to receive the benefits of Pilates that made me fell in love with the practice to begin with.

Eventually, I had my husband, an attorney, reach out to Carla in an attempt to get her to cease her discriminatory practices. Unfortunately, this also failed to achieve the results I was looking for - which was simply to obtain at least one more weekly session, or allow me to use the apparatuses on my own. It’s by my grace alone that I am not pursuing legal action, despite clear grounds to do so. A Pilates studio should foster inclusion and fairness, but unfortunately, St. Pete Pilates, under Carla’s direction, fails to embody these values. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for better treatment of all clients moving forward.

Luckily, I did find another studio, Pilates on 4th, with an amazing and accommodating teacher. If you're looking for Classical Pilates in the St. Pete area - I'd highly recommend making the trip over there. It was certainly worth the extra 25 minute drive for me.
