I’ve lived in Playa for about 6 years and for the longest time I wanted to check out Art of Pilates, I finally went through with it and I’m so glad i did. The studio is so cute and the teachers make the classes not intimidating at all, I never did Pilates before I signed up for their new client special and since the first class I was made to feel very welcomed.

I highly recommend this place for anyone looking into starting Pilates or finding a new place to do it. Special shoutout to Robyn, even when I was taking just their beginner classes, I felt challenged enough to make it a good workout when I attended her class.

Absolutely worth the money and time to workout here!

This is the best studio! I stopped looking after I found Art of Pilates. I’ve done Pilates on both east and west coast and at different studios. The teachers, the environment, the expert feedback and knowledge here is incredible.

I highly encourage you to try a class here and see for yourself. It’s peaceful but a serious workout. Very calming and simultaneously challenging.

The language and teaching that their experienced experts use is just the best. Judy taught my first class and I was hooked. She and Fleur are two of my utter favorites.

Wonderful comraderie and encouragement. Nice environment to come to and not intimidating to join.

Also, anatomically the techniques they teach are just phenomenal - I’m a pelvic surgeon and they know their stuff!!

This is my favorite studio to attend as a fellow Pilates instructor! All of the instructors are knowledgeable, taking great care in form and providing adjustments as well as giving a well-rounded class that leaves you challenged yet feeling open. Everyone is friendly and the space is warm! Just love it!!

When I started at Art of Pilates, I was experiencing a lot of pain on the left side of my body. The pain would radiate from my left shoulder to my left knee to my left ankle and all along my lower back to the point where I would wake up at night in pain. I've been taking pilates 3 times a week-- consistently-- and "no lie" I am feeling 75% to 80% better. My body feels more in alignment and I feel stronger. I am experiencing a lot less pain and I am gaining flexibility. The teachers at Art of Pilates are kind, knowledgeable, patient, inspiring and it's fun to take class. I am now hooked on Pilates thanks to Art of Pilates. ✌️🙏💗

I love taking classes at Art of Pilates. The classes are fun and invigorating, the studio is very cute and clean, and it's right near the ocean! I love the vibe this studio offers and everyone there is very friendly and welcoming. Michelle Donati is the best pilates teacher I have ever taken from, and I have been taking pilates for many years. She is very experienced and knowledgeable in pilates. She knows how to safely modify moves to accommodate injuries. She makes the classes fun and she truly cares about every student. Pilates has changed my life and my body for the better and I am so thankful for this studio!

I joined Art of Pilates seven years ago, after months of sleepless nights due to a progressively worsening sciatic nerve injury. The pain was existential for many years, and conventional physical therapy did not help. After less than three months at the studio, three classes per week brought about a significant improvement. I was hooked on my new posture, the decreasing pain, the workout itself and the ambiance during classes. From the administrative staff to all the instructors I’ve had along the years, I have never been disappointed. The little comments I had have always been heard and implemented. When I got to meet Lisa, the owner, it all made sense: the level of care, the accomplished instructors, the equipment, modifications to clients with injuries and the phenomenal service. I cannot say enough about this place! Oh, and I’m cured of the old sciatica… haven’t felt it in years.

I just discovered this studio in Playa del Rey. I’m very excited to attend it after the quarantine. The studio is very nice and clean. They definitely follow all the guidelines. All the teachers are amazing, friendly and helpful if you need any adjustments. I can already see a difference in my body and flexibility after only few classes. I highly recommend and the best part is that after your class you can just go enjoy yourself at the beach which is located right next to it ☺️.

Beware of this studio .. ..
This is the first time I have bothered to post a review. I want to warn people about this place. About a year ago I had signed up online for some barre classes. I made the big mistake of giving them my debit card information.
I went for a few classes and then stopped going. I had to attend to family crises and did not think any more of it. After more than a year I found that they had been charging my card monthly, without my knowledge or permission. The total charges amounted to $1677.00!
I was not notified or contacted in any way by the business during this time and was unaware of the continuing charges to my credit card. Since it was my debit card, I had no monthly bills sent to me either. In addition nowhere on their website notified customers that their card would be automatically on auto debit. Presently they have now posted an auto debit note of awareness to customers but what about the customers who have suffered before this note was ever posted?
When I discovered this, I called the office and explained what had happened. I asked them to check their attendance records if they wanted to confirm that I had attended no classes. Heck, I had been out of the country for most of that year! They had kept no records on their end. After exchanging many emails they offered to refund me for two months- $238.00, -a tiny fraction of the money they had taken from me! I asked to speak to the owner either in person or on the phone. All I got back was a curt reply saying that the owner declined my request to speak with her. She also declined to reimburse me any more of the money and said that that was their final offer. Unprofessional, rude, not to mention terrible record keeping.
In response to their unwillingness to come to a compromise of what would be fair for both parties, I have no other choice but to pursue this through civil court. I feel taken advantage of not to mention robbed!
I wish I could support this local business, but I cannot. Unfortunately, the only good thing I can say about this studio is that at the time I attended, the instructors were good. But for me, this is not enough to compensate for the terrible administration. On the whole, I wish I had looked elsewhere for exercise classes.
