This pub is only round the corner from where I live, I've lived in this area for over 12 years, but this was the first time I've used this pub. Firstly when I walked in there was only 4 other people, I walked to the bar and asked for a pint of bitter, " we don't sell bitter" was the reply, oh "a pint of Guinness then please" "£5.60 please" was the reply. I haven't been in there since but they now have a notice outside saying Under New Management let's hope their prices have changed as well 🤔

The pub was the haunt of local celebrity (at The Red House) William Morris, great to see it still has a historical interior and exterior. Landlord very friendly.

Seemed nice enough , but for 2 x 1/2 lagers, 1 packet of Crisps & some Peanuts, £10.35 seemed excessive. When did it start to cost £1.50 for a packet of Crisps & over £2 for a small pot of Peanuts. Wasn't impressed

Went here for the first time with a friend around 20 minutes before close for 1 pint. All went fine until the bar lady was joined by what seemed her friends or other staff, and we heard “have they just come in? Oh for god sake” in which we were made to feel unwelcome within 2 minutes of arriving. It carried on for the next 5 minutes without them realising we could here them as they turned off all music and it was just us and them, we heard them say “get out of my pub” and I caught one of them pointing at us whilst talking about us, and quickly tried to mask it as we looked over. Not great, not welcoming for anyone not from the area. Sadly disappointed people go out of their way to make other feel uncomfortable. We rushed our drinks and left

Bar staff excellent. Felt like a valued customer even after the bar closed. Friendly regulars.5 stars because one barmaid in particular although busy still had time for all her customers, she was polite very well mannered and made my time very pleasant indeed.

Went to watch the euros football where the pub was over crowded considering the covid restrictions for the time. Masses of people sharing tables to the point where people had to stand. No attempt from the pub to help regulate it. No security at all, which I personally think should be there on an event like this, as the staff would certainly not be able to manage a situation was it to occur. Which it did!

Towards the end of the night, a glass was thrown from outside which came through the pub window smashing over our table and cutting my face. Extremely lucky no one was seriously hurt. The situation was dealt with dreadfully as no one came to my concern and the culprit not dealt with.

Drugs being blatantly used by the customers, again no effort is made to help prevent this. Maybe some form of security may help regulate a busy event?

However, the staff are friendly and approachable, just under trained and inexperienced to hold an event of that scale.
